Aluminum Alloy Sheets Overview

Aluminum alloy sheets, as an important metal material, has a wide range of applications in many fields. Aluminum alloy sheet is processed by add a variety of alloying elements to improve its mechanical properties and chemical indicators. Aluminum alloy sheet can be divided into several series according to the different alloying elements, and each series contains several specific alloy grades.

Aluminum alloy sheets

The following are some common aluminum alloy sheets grades and their properties and applications:

  1. 1000 series (pure aluminum)

1050 aluminum sheet: Aluminum content ≥99.5%, good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, widely used in electrical and chemical industries.

1100 aluminum sheet: Aluminum content ≥99.0%, with excellent formability and weldability, suitable for food and pharmaceutical packaging.

  1. 2000 series (aluminum-copper alloy)

2024 aluminum sheet: with high strength and good fatigue properties, commonly used in aerospace and military fields.

2011aluminum sheet: Excellent cutting performance, suitable for manufacturing precision mechanical parts.

  1. 3000 series (aluminum-manganese alloy)

3003 aluminum sheet: With good formability and weldability, commonly used in kitchen equipment and chemical storage tanks.

– 3105 aluminum sheet: Used in construction and roofing materials, with good corrosion resistance and formability.

  1. 4000 series (aluminum-silicon alloy)

– 4045: Commonly used in welding materials with good wear and oxidation resistance.

– 4032: Used for high-temperature applications, such as automotive engine parts, with high strength and wear resistance.

  1. 5000 series (aluminum-magnesium alloy)

5052 aluminum sheet: Excellent corrosion resistance and weldability, widely used in automotive and shipbuilding.

– 5083 aluminum sheet: Excellent corrosion resistance and strength, commonly used in marine and pressure vessel applications.

  1. 6000 series (aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy)

6061 aluminum sheet: with good mechanical properties and weldability, widely used in construction, transportation and mechanical structures.

– 6063 aluminum sheet: With good formability and surface finish, commonly used in building profiles and window frames.

  1. 7000 series (aluminum-zinc alloy)

– 7075 aluminum sheet: With very high strength, it is mainly used in aerospace and military applications, and is commonly used to manufacture aircraft structural parts.

– 7050: has good fatigue resistance and is suitable for aerospace and high strength applications.

  1. 8000 Series (other alloys)

– 8006: Used in aluminum foil and packaging materials, with good formability and corrosion resistance.

Aluminum alloy sheets grade selection depends on specific application requirements, including strength, corrosion resistance, machinability and weldability. When selecting an aluminum alloy grade, it is important to consider the match between the material’s properties and the intended use.
